Bulten coating system in Bergkamen

Description:

New coating system for efficient processes

The globally successful fastener manufacturer Bulten AB recently began operations with an innovative in-house coating unit at its German site in Bergkamen. The modern system was developed in co-operation with Dörken MKS.

Zinc flake coatings for bolts, screws and fasteners

As one of the leading manufacturers in its field, for many years now the Swedish firm Bulten AB (Göteborg) has produced high-quality bolts, screws and fasteners for the European car industry, automotive suppliers and numerous other industrial sectors. With the goal of making the internal coating processes even more efficient, in 2016 the company joined forces with Dörken MKS on a joint project at the Swedish Hallstahammar site to design and realise a coating system optimally tailored to the conditions at the plant. This positive experience has now prompted the two partners to also plan and construct a state-of-the-art, in-house system at the German Bulten plant in Bergkamen, completed within just a few weeks. As in Sweden, bolts, screws and fasteners for various applications will now be coated with the high-performance Delta-Protekt KL100/120 zinc flake base coat, giving them long-term protection against red and white corrosion. In addition, where required, scratch-resistant top coats such as Delta-Seal can also be applied using the new unit.

Result: Process optimisation and cost savings

Martin Juros; Key Account Manager at Dörken MKS and responsible for the project, explains: The new system enables order processing to be accelerated considerably. And for our customers this ultimately means sustainable cost savings.” The managers at Bulten AB are very satisfied with the results.
