First ‘Tech Day’ in Italy – a total success


On 23rd June, over 50 experts from the Italian automotive and supplier industry gathered in Bergamo near Milan to attend Dörken MKS Systems’ first ever ‘Tech Day’. The main focus of the one-day conference was on threaded fastenings. Dörken MKS Systems has for 30 years now been developing and manufacturing micro-layer corrosion protection systems for screws and connection elements used mainly in the automotive industry. These zinc flake systems generally consist of multiple layers. While the basecoat (with a high zinc content) primarily takes care of the corrosion protection, other qualities, such as the required friction for perfect threaded fastening, are set by a further layer, the topcoat. However, the topcoat also fulfils other requirements, such as temperature, UV and chemical resistance or provision of the client’s desired colouring. DELTA-MKS® systems also adhere to modern specifications such as not loosening under temperature and avoiding stick/slip effects. In addition Dörken representatives giving presentations on using the zinc flake systems, other speakers from the entire value creation chain also gave talks. VW were in attendance to talk as a vehicle manufacturer about current specifications, after which Agrati gave the view from a screw manufacturer’s perspective. The use of MKS systems at coating firms was portrayed by two such companies, Primat and Fosfantartiglio, while another company, Schatz, rounded the day off by demonstrating some practical examples on a screw test stand. With this event Dörken once again proved its leading position in both market and technological terms, underlining the parameters that over the last 30 years have made the company into a successful global player: highly efficient, multifunctional anti-corrosion protection systems, a global presence and licensed coating companies, which, using agreed methods of application, achieve the same high quality coating results the world over.
